Clarksville Elementary Visits Fire Department
On October 8th, the Early Childhood, Pre-K and Kindergarten classes of Clarksville Elementary School visited the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department. The students received tips on what to do if there is a fire, got to see a fire fighter in his full gear and received fire hats of their own. The students watched a movie to enhance their knowledge of how to react during a fire. The movie featured a dog who demonstrated stop, drop and roll in case any of them ever experienced being on fire. The entire trip was an enjoyable and learning experience for all.

Pumpkins Raid the Halls of Clarksville Elementary Thanks to Clarksville Merchants
At the end of September pumpkins were donated to all the students at Clarksville Elementary for the experience of decorating the pumpkins during art. Mrs. Muller worked with each grade by having paint supplies ready and the pumpkins delivered ahead of time. She did a terrific job getting things done. During the students' regular art period Mrs. Muller shared ideas for decorating and then the students went to work. Sponsors of this project were Bobby Owen with Designs by Bobby, The Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce, The Lake House Restaurant, The Pizza Pub, Clarksville Fine Jewelry, Carole Blair with Century 21 on the lake, State Farm Insurance, and Susan McKee. We really appreciate all the help each of these sponsors gave. It was an awesome experience and all of us at Clarksville Elementary have enjoyed seeing the pumpkins decorated.
Pictured is Mrs. Muller with some of the fifth grade students from Mrs. Hutchins' class holding their pumpkins that will be entered in the Harvest Days Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Visit and Donation by Author to Clarksville Elementary School
Last week Clarksville Elementary had a visit by David Wood. David is the author of Nightmare At Indian Cave. The book is a fantasy set in Virginia in the late 1700's. The history is accurate and offers reluctant readers subject matter that is interesting and motivational. David taught seventh grade reading and English at Clarksville Elementary School in 1964-65. He has worked with major league baseball and NASCAR since 1996. He is now retired and living in Corpus Christi, Texas. This picture shows David Wood presenting Mrs. Dalton a copy of his book for the library at Clarksville Elementary.
The Clarksville Ruritans presented each teacher at Clarksville Elementary School with $100 to help provide teaching supplies and instructional materials for the upcoming school year. Accepting the generous donation is Principal Ann Dalton (left) from Mrs. Jackie Lily (right).
